It’s advisable to look for chairs that have a wide base so that they do no easily tip over. Being young kids, your child who is always exploring their surroundings in the house will also try to yank on these high chairs, so a chair with a wide base will help keep them from toppling over.
If parents do decide on high chairs for kids which also have wheels on them, having a wide base will also ensure the chair is always balanced when being moved around. Keep in mind also that the wheels have good and reliable brakes so that the chairs are safe and secure when stationary.
Safety harness is another very important point that should be considered. Parents can make a quick check on the straps to make sure the waist belt has a buckle that can’t be fastened unless the crotch strap is also being used. High chairs should have a waist strap and also a strap that runs between the legs. There are some high chairs that don’t have a crotch strap to prevent your child from slipping through the seat. If this is the case, just make sure the chair has a post between the child’s legs. For maximum safety, it’s best to consider a 5 point harness.
Parents can also consider purchasing second hand high chairs for kids if there are spending constraints.. Just make sure that all the accessories are available and that the safety belts and harness fit tightly around your child. Watch for signs of wear and tear on these belts and harnesss as well.
