Designing a Kid-Friendly Play Room

Designing a kid-friendly play room really means designing a room with your children in mind. Having a playroom can save the nice furnishings in the living room from the damage caused by roughhousing and other active play.
Select a flooring
A hard flooring, such as wood laminate or tile, is ideal for a play space, because it is easy to clean and hard to destroy. If you like the look of the softer, warmer flooring, like carpet, put down an area rug in the center of the room to cover a large area of the flooring. Area rugs are easy to remove for cleaning and inexpensive to replace.
Select decorations
Select decorations that are easy to replace and fit your children's interests. Wall stickers are available for as little as one dollar a sheet and simply stick on and peel off the wall. Use a wall color that is neutral, so that it is appropriate for both boys and girls, and so it fits with whatever decor your children are into at that moment. This allows you to frequently update the room to fit your children's ever-evolving interests.
Buy furnishings
Buy furnishings for the room, including a table and chairs, a recliner or lounge chair and other furnishings. Make sure all the furnishings in the room are sized for your children and their comfort. Small tables and chairs and other small furnishings allow your children to easily sit in them at a safe distance from the floor.
